Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya (IGKV), Raipur was established in 1987. It is an autonomous, nonprofit, research and educational organization dedicated for the upliftment of farmers livelihood of Chhattisgarh. Grant in aid is received from ICAR and State Government to meet out the mandates of the University. Besides this, some international and other agencies are also giving grants to fulfill various mandates, need based objectives of the State agriculture and allied sectors. The University offers module-based courses in the areas of agriculture and allied sciences. It promotes direct and indirect education, technological support to the public in general and farmers. The curriculum has been planned in such a way that it improves agriculture productivity and the economic situation of the rural people
