People's Co-operative Arts and Science College, Munnad is a unit of the Kasaragod Co-operative educational society and is affiliated to Kannur University. Higher education facilities are totally inadequate in the eastern parts of the kasaragod District. Both Kuttikole and Bedadukka panchayaths are far away from the first grade Govt. College Kasaragod. In both these Panchayaths the weaker sections such as scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and other financially poor-class people are more. Only a gifted few are rich enough, who can afford to send their children to distant places for higher education. The financially poor class of people cannot bear the soaring cost of modern education . To cater to the needs of such weaker sections of the community there college was established. There college, PCASC Munnad was formally inaugurated by there patron and president of the Kasaragod Co-operative educational Society, P Raghavan Ex MLA on thirteenth July 2005. This day will be remembered as a red-letter-day in the history of the agrarian village, Munnad because their long standing demand for a first grade was fulfilled.
