The College of Fisheries was established in the year 1979 under the Faculty of Fisheries of the Kerala Agricultural University. This is the third Fisheries College in the country. The four year bachelors degree programme in fisheries leading to B.F.Sc. degree was started with the aim of producing the highly required, professionally and technically qualified manpower in fisheries to cater to the needs of fast developing fisheries sector of the State and other parts of the Country. The College is situated at Panangad, near Kochi in an area of about 30 hectares. For the smooth and proper conduct of academic and related activities, the Fisheries faculty is divided into seven departments, viz. Aquaculture, Fishery Biology, Processing Technology, Fishery Hydrography, Fishing Technology, Fishery Engineering and Management Studies. Various courses, both at U.G., P.G. and Ph.D. level are offered by these departments
