The Govt. Arts & Science College, Kozhikode was established in 1964. Prof. Karimpuzha Ramakrishnan, the well known writer and scholar was the first Principal of the college. The college is affiliated to the University of Calicut. This is a prime institute to impart quality education in Malabar region of Kerala.The College now offers 12 undergraduate courses and 7 post graduate courses. The Department of Hindi is a Research Centre.At present there are 78 faculty members and 33 Technical and administrative staff. Around 1500 students are enrolled.
