Prof.Dhanapalan College for Women, Chennai was established in 1991 managed under Vaiyapuri Mudaliar Educational Foundation. Vaiyapuri Mudaliar Educational Foundation started by Prof.R.V.Dhanapalan in memory of his father. The foundation is a public trust with the object of providing educational facility and opportunity for all the deprived section of the community in general and with a special thrust for women’s education particularly in the rural area that too in the field of science and management. In furtherance of the above objective, the foundation obtained the permission of Government of Tamilnadu to establish a college for women at Kelambakkam, located in the Southern part of Madras Metropolis. The College is affiliated to the University of Madras. The College was started with five Under Graduate courses in the field of Science, Management and Commerce. This growth speaks volumes about the sincere efforts by the management, faculty and the students themselves to improve the content, Quality and thereby the strength of the college. In these 18 years, the college has become one of the premier institutions and a major player in the Indian Women’s education.
