In 1947, a year when the world witnessed the unfolding of a great historical event: the birth of a new nation from an ancient world. In the Deep South, in a quaint part of the south India a spirit of energy and dynamism was being scripted by the legendary P. Nachimuthu Gounder, a visionary who forayed into many commercial endeavours from his tradition culture of farming. The Anamallais Bus Transport Company was established by him in 1931 and was founding legacy of what would become a large conglomerate. The pioneer not only had grand plans in commerce but also had a larger vision of nation building through education. His dream was to educate the rural community in technical education and it remains the key driver of all that has emerged. The vision was carried forward by his successor and son Dr N. Mahalingam, who for the last 6 decades has been steering remarkable societal development through the mercantile ventures and educational services. Dr N. Mahalingam, is today a role model for different generations, and is respected for his unparalleled contributions in the spheres of industry, agriculture, politics, social, societal leadership, religion, culture and most importantly education. India today is in its last leap towards attaining the status of the developed nation. Education will be one of the most important enablers of dream.
