About Government Colege of Fine Arts, Trichur : The institution started functioning in 1910 in the name of ‘technical commercial industrial school’ under the auspices of the erstwhile Cochin dynasty and imparted training on art and craft. During the second world war the institution was renamed as govt. trade school and art and craft subjects were got integrated. For some time the institution was known as govt. occupational institute and later it was known as govt. institute of fine arts, conducting five year national diploma courses in painting, sculpture and applied art.
