Select A College

The Embassy of Japan in Thailand will select and recommend some Thai students to who wish to further their study on higher Education level at higher education Institutes in Japan under the Japanese Government Scholarship. They are 7 programmes as follow.

Selection Of College

1. Undergraduate Students

The Embassy of Japan will annually select approximately 10 Thai students to study undergraduate level at Japanese universities as a foreign student. Applicants must be Thai and at least 17 and under 22 years of age and have completed 12 years of school education or those who will complete courses in upper secondary school level. The term of scholarship is 5 years, and 7 years for the field of Medical Sciences, Dentistry and Veterinary Sciences (each including 1 year of Japanese language education).

2. Research Students

The Embassy of Japan will annually select approximately 50 Thai students to study at the master's degree course at Japanese universities as a foreign research student. Applicants must be Thai and under 35 years of age and have completed or will complete course from undergraduate level. The term of scholarship is 2 years (including half year of Japanese language education). However, the term of scholarship is depended on the curriculum of education such as master's degree course/or doctor's degree course level /and or the professional courses

3. Japanese Studies Students

The Embassy of Japan will annually select approximately 5 Thai students to study at Japanese universities for enhancing their Japanese language abilities and learning Japanese culture and society. Applicants must be Thai and from 18 to 30 years of age and applicants must be undergraduate students majoring in Japanese language or Japanese culture in the university. The term of scholarship is 1 year.

4. Teacher Training Students

The Embassy of Japan will annually select approximately 10 teachers under the Ministry of Education in Thailand to conduct a research at the Japanese universities. Applicants must be Thai, under 35 years of age and a graduate of university. Applicants must have at least five years of active experience as a teacher in a primary or secondary school or teacher training college in Thailand. The term of scholarship is 1 and a half year (including 6 month of Japanese language education).

5. College of Technology Students

The Embassy of Japan will annually select approximately 2 Thai students to study at Japanese College of Technology as a foreign student. Applicants must be Thai, at least 17 and under 22 years of age and have completed school education or will complete at 11 years of regular school education from a 12 years curriculum. The term of scholarship is 4 years (including 1 year of Japanese language education).

6. Professional Training College Students

The Embassy of Japan will annually select approximately 2 students to study at the Japanese Professional Training School as a foreign student. Applicants must be Thai, at least 17 and under 22 years of age and have completed or will complete upper secondary school as the12 years of schooling or have completed school education comparable to a Japanese high school. The term of scholarship is 3 years (including 1 year of Japanese language education).

7. Young leaders Program (YLP) Students

The Embassy of Japan will annually select Thai officials, who will take the leader role in developing Thailand in the future, to study at Japanese universities. The fields of study are divided into 5 programmes; School of Government, Public Administration, Medical Administration, Business Administration, and Law. Applicants must be Thai, under 40 years old (not more than 35 years old for the field of Business Administration), who have completed undergraduate level and have at least 3-5 years of work experiences in public enterprises or organization. (Qualifications will be specified according to the fields of study). Applicants must be nominated by their own offices to the Japan Embassy.
